Skin by Ted Dekker |
|
Rating: 5 Stars |
I am a little biased as I have loved everything I have read by Ted Dekker, but have to admit if someone had told me that this was a science fiction novel, I probably wouldn't have read it. That being said, I am so glad that I read it. It was a great combo of Mystery/Thriller with a underlying sci-fi hint. You will not be able to put this book down. SKIN draws you in and keeps you guessing until the end. |

This book is an incredible work of Christian fiction. You will not want to put it down. This story is captivating and an easy read, but has a maturity and depth to it that one rarely finds. It touched my soul. |

The Inheritance by Tamera Alexander |
|
Rating: 5 Stars |
I thoroughly enjoyed THE INHERITANCE. There were so many angles to the "inheritance" concept and it was great to read a well-written, well-researched book that encourages the reader (me) to sit back and also take note of the inheritance I have received through my walk of faith in Christ Jesus. Learning brokenness, faith, and rest through troubled times ... an inheritance I can certainly stand to receive!
Tamera Alexander's writing style was pleasant reading. I was pleased with the storyline, the relationships drew me in and made putting the book down difficult, and I loved the balance she obtained by McKenna's severe independance yet desperate need for dependence. Wyatt is the perfect hero and is a great picture of a Godly leader.
If I had to critique anything, I'd say it was too short. And, I don't mean that patronizingly. I would have loved to have the book a little thicker and a little longer so Tamera Alexander could have spread the story even further =0)
Totally worth the money to add this to your library! Great for a rainy day, a hot cup of coffee, and a moment to escape into history and romance! |

The Gnostic Mystery by Randy Davila |
|
Rating: 4 Stars |
This is an interesting story about the origins of the Roman Catholic religion as it is today, and the other Christian beliefs that were squelched by the Roman Emperor Constantine in the development of the Roman Catholic Church. The book provides food for thought. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the writer didn't do a commentary at the end indicating what was actually based on fact and what was pure fiction. |

Daisy Chain by Mary E. DeMuth |
|
Rating: 5 Stars |
DAISY CHAIN has beautiful prose, offbeat but very real characters, and a delicate story. It's one of those books that stays in your mind long after you've finished reading it. It isn't a warm and fuzzy novel, but it does leave you wanting more. I was right alongside Jed and shared all his hurt and guilt. A very well done novel. |

Sweet. Sassy. Simply wonderful. That's THE INHERITANCE in a nutshell. I love historical romances with sassy heroines, and this book did not disappoint. The main character, McKenna Ashford, grabbed my attention right away. I was pulled into the story through the struggles, surprises, and genuine love. It leaves you feeling warm, fuzzy, and happy. Don't miss this one! |

K.T. Kendall goes deeper into the parables told by Jesus and explores why they matter and what they say in the world that we live in. He provides background of the day that helps understand the key words or concepts used in the parable. This is a great book for either individual or group study with hours of possible discussion. |

Adriana keeps with her Italian-American heritage in this tale of Valentine. I am drawn to her work because I am an Italian American woman and her words re-kindle the loving memories of sitting around my grandma's kitchen table. This is the first part of a trilogy and I look forward to reading the other two parts. |

I absolutely loved this book, which is the second in a series. It follows the lives of the local doctor, Dr. Fingal O'Reilly and his new assistant, Dr. Barry Laverty in the delightful village of Ballybucklebo. The book makes you feel as if you are in this Irish community experiencing all the good and bad that happens in the book. |

An old classic that our state is doing for "The Big Read" this year. It is interesting --- Sam Spade, a PI, has to uncover who has the falcon. A good mystery. |
