When Crickets Cry by Charles Martin |
Rating: 5 Stars |
This fantastic book follows the relationship of a man, fighting through life after losing his wife and a little girl he meets on the street, selling lemonade. The correlation between the little girl and the man's wife is strong and the journey these two opposite characters take together is definitely worth reading about.

The Dead Don't Dance by Charles Martin |
Rating: 5 Stars |
This was one of the most amazing books, Christian or other, that I have ever read. Martin has a gift for really bringing the reader into his stories and allowing him or her to be the main character. This particular story is about a man that loves his wife in an incredible way and she has complications during childbirth and goes into a coma. It follows his emotional and spiritual journey of being forced to live life without his wife.

The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Tough by Neta Jackson |
Rating: 5 Stars |
This book repeatedly brought me to tears and had me crying out to God. I long for a yada group like this! I pray that God will move in our country as He moved in this story --- one person and one prayer at a time. I seek to be part of the solution!! What inspiration from an awesome author!

Sisterchicks in Gondolas by Robin Jones Gunn |
Rating: 5 Stars |
I have read the Sisterchicks series from day one, and this is the best one to date. It makes my best friend and me want to jump on an airplane and go to Italy. That probably won't happen, but the book takes us there. Outstanding.

This is a story about love, life, and the gifts we receive from God. The author grabs you in the first chapter and then reels you in with the characters and the mystery. This is another winner by Martin.

This author does a great job with visual imagery and really brings the story to life. This is a story in which family memories from the past are seen anew in the present. Past hurts and unhappiness require forgiveness and bring fresh life to relationships.

First Impressions by Debra White Smith |
Rating: 5 Stars |
This book is an updated modern version of Jane Austen's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. Although predictible if you know the story, it was enjoyable to read. The characters were fresh, modern and interesting, mixed with a classic traditional love story. I'm currently reading CENTRAL PARK, Smith's version of MANSFIELD PARK, and it's just as good as FIRST IMPRESSIONS.

Waking Lazarus by T. L. Hines |
Rating: 5 Stars |
Joining the ranks of Peretti, Dekker, and Liparulo, T. L. Hines brings us WAKING LAZARUS, the story of Jude Allman. Jude has died 3 times, returning from the dead each time. Why? What is the purpose of this miracle? The story is not only the explanation of the miracle, but evidence that we all have a gift from God, and choosing to turn from that gift has consequences. Enjoy Jude's journey.

Kissing Adrien by Siri L. Mitchell |
Rating: 5 Stars |
Ever dream of visiting Paris? Just read KISSING ADRIEN. It was a fun vacation to Paris and also brought up a lot of issues about what aspects in American Christianity are really Biblical values and what are just cultural. The plot is about an American woman, Claire, who goes to Paris to claim a family inheritance and meets up with a childhood friend, Adrien, whom she had a crush on when she was 17. Adrien and Claire are both Christians, but because Adrien is a Frenchman, his Christianity looks a little bit different than Claire's. The story was very cute and romantic, but one that anyone could feel comfortable reading. This was my first book by Siri L. Mitchell, but I will read more by her soon.

A Girl's Best Friend by Kristin Billerbeck |
Rating: 5 Stars |
I loved A GIRL'S BEST FRIEND and couldn't wait for it to come out after I finished SHE'S ALL THAT, which was the first book in the chick lit series, Spa Girls. Morgan is one profound character. The author did such a great job at developing Morgan's personality that I not only felt empathy for her, but she seemed like a real person to me. Oh, and the attraction Morgan felt toward a certain man with six-pack abs was too incredible for words. You'll love this story!

Coldwater Revival by Nancy Jo Jenkins |
Rating: 5 Stars |
This story is so powerful and packed with emotion that it will stick in my mind forever. Believable characters and overwhelming trajedy are discovered within the pages of this wonderful novel. Even in the midst of the tears I shed, I believe this is one of the most heart-engaging romances I've ever read. It's a must read and will be a favorite story of mine for years to come.

The Soldier's Lady by Michael Phillips |
Rating: 5 Stars |
This story, set in 1869, is about freed slaves who still are fearful of their old masters and don't have the means to leave the South. Also in the story is a white girl who takes in several ex slaves. Mr. Phillips is a very good storyteller. I have learned a lot about that time from his books.
