When Did I Stop Being Barbie & Become Mrs. Potato Head? by Mary Pierce. 5 stars.
The author is from my home state of Wisconsin. I heard her interviewed on a local newscast. With a touch of humor, she teaches us to embrace our less-than-perfect selves. I could relate to a lot of her experiences.

Even God Rested by Kim Thomas. 4 stars.
We need to rest on a regular basis in order to renew ourselves. In today's fast-paced lifestyle, we've lost sight of this God-designed need. We shouldn't feel guilty taking a few moments for ourselves.

I just finished reading And the Shofar Blew by Francine Rivers. It is an excellent fictional look into the life of a church leader and his struggle between living in his father's image and obedience to the Lord, as well as his wife's struggle with being the perfect pastor's wife/mother and her own identity. Although the book is over 400 pages, readers will want to finish it to the end. I give it 5 stars for sure! I look forward to reading more of this author's work.

I have just finished the first three books in the Redemption series by Karen Kingsbury and Gary Smalley: Redemption, Remember and Return. There are five books in the series with Rejoice coming out in March 2004 and Reunion coming out in October 2004. These are just excellent books about one family and their five children and how each child comes to a renewed relationship with God through trials and tribulations. I read the first three in a week and am anxiously waiting for the other two. Read them...you won't be disappointed!

Currently I am rereading Barbara Johnson's Fresh Elastic for Stretched Out Moms. Sometimes we need some laughter to lighten the load we are carrying, and what better way to do that than with a Barbara Johnson book. I am also into Soon by Jerry Jenkins and enjoying it very much.

Scribbling in the Sand by Michael Card. 5 stars.
This book has caused me to think about creativity and how that influences our relationship with Christ.

Thr3e by Ted Dekker. 4 stars.
Great thriller that kept me guessing until the end. It's full of great characters and unusual plot twists.

Dread Champion by Brandilyn Collins. 4 stars.
Another great thriller full of interesting plot twists and good characters.

An old classic that takes a little effort but is worth it is The Place of the Lion by Charles Williams, a contemporary of Tolkien and Lewis. 3 stars.

Waking the Dead by John Eldredge is a must read for anyone in the helping professions. 5 stars.

onevoice777@tsixroads.com
I'm reading Unveiling the End Times in Our Time by Adrian Rogers. It is an excellent book for those interested in end times. Very easy reading. 4 stars.

ladysusan@hargray.com
I just finished reading The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen. It keeps you on edge until the end, and holds you in a powerful thrill/suspese grip! And now I am currently reading The Apprentice by Tess Gerritsen. I find the same thrill/suspense as her previous book and can't wait to get to the end. 5 stars for both books.

Dlh1964@aol.com
I'm currently reading Finding Fish by Antwone Fisher. I'd give this book 5 stars based on his ability to touch your heart by sharing the pains of his past and the bitter bonds that brought him to where he is today.

The Promised by Jim Cymbala. 5 stars.
Fresh Faith by Jim Cymbala. 5 stars.
Break Through Prayer by Jim Cymbala. 5 stars.
Fresh Power by Jim Cymbala. 5 stars.

Jim Cymbala is the pastor of The Brooklyn Tablernacle Church in Brooklyn, New York. His writings are soul searching and spiritual uplifts that guide you in daily life. His insight is wonderful and his ability to be thought provoking is awesome. Brooklyn Tablernacle is an outreach church and their choir has won 5 Grammys; Jim's wife is the choir director there.

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.

pauzauskie@mchsi.com
Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code is a five-star book that I couldn't put down. I'm ready to begin his Digital Fortress, which I am excited to start!

gelles@paulbunyan.net
I've just read Jan Karon's Shepherds Abiding. I found it as enjoyable as her other books. Father Tim finds an old Nativity scene and works to restore it for his darling Cynthia. Other Mitford characters deal with the fall and holiday seasons with various complexities in their lives. Hope struggles with taking on the bookstore on her own. Lew wonders about his secret marriage. J.C., who runs the newspaper, has run-ins with friends at the cafe. Through it all, I felt very comfortable and encouraged that so many of the characters reflect the value and teachings of Christ. 5 stars.

I also give 5 stars to the wonderful picture book On Noah's Ark by Jan Brett. I've always loved her illustrations. In this retelling, Noah's granddaughter tells the story of gathering the animals, dealing with the crowded ark, the endless rain and returning to land. It's delightful, colorful and great to share with children of all ages.

All I am reading right now is East of Eden by John Steinbeck, which I give 4 stars. I only give it such a high rating because I know it is a masterpiece. To be honest I am not feeling it. However, to be fair, I do only read it when I am on the treadmill, and so it's a bit choppy. I believe a murder or treachery is about to occur, so perhaps it will improve.

lferrey@iconcustoms.com
I am currently reading Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel, and it is funny that she is able to tell her own story with such honesty.

Each of these books are worth reading and encouraging others to read as well:

Success Without Success by George Burgess. 5 stars.
America's Christian History: The Untold Story by Gary DeMar. 5 stars.
Original Intent by David Barton. 5 stars.

DBinPgh@aol.com
I would like to recommend God on a Harley by Joan Brady. It is a short read and one that you will want to read again and again. I read it a few years ago and still refer to it every now and then.

thegraws@adelphia.net
It's More Than the Music by Bill Gaither. 4 stars.
I was moved by this insight into the life of Bill Gaither. It was inspiring and, most of all, touching.

tskrush@cox.net
The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier, which is a GREAT book!!

skfhi@aol.com
I am currently reading book four of Diana Gabaldon's time traveling historical romance adventure series. I give book one, Outlander, 5 stars. Books two and three, Dragonfly in Amber and Voyager, rate 4 1/2. As I'm not quite halfway finished with book four, Drums of Autumn, I shall only state that this book so far is a 4, but from the story summary on the jacket, I'm certain that it will go up to a 4 1/2 before I'm through.

asweeper238@aol.com
I just finished reading Left Behind and I just started reading Cold Mountain. Both are good books.

joni514@verizon.net
